Understanding how allocations work
The allocation of professional placements is a complex process and varies due to requirements of the programmes. The overreaching aim of the Placement Team during any allocation process is to ensure all students are allocated a placement which fits the requirements of the programmes (including any regulatory/awarding body) and complies with the policies and procedures of the team.
The Placement Team do get student details and preferences to assist in the allocation process but the requirements of the programmes, the availability of partners/hosts and the logistical challenges associated with placements means the Placement Team cannot guarantee to meet any or all preferences. Further details of the Placement Teams policies can be found on our webpage.
Challenging an allocation
Given the complexity of the allocation process anyone wishing to challenge an allocation should contact the Placement Team in the first instance. Details of how to contact the Placement Team are included at the end of this article.
After contacting the Placement Team should anyone want to ask for an official reconsideration of their placement, they should follow the correct process for. The reconsideration process involves the Placement Team and academics from the programme. Further details of the reconsideration process can be on our Placement Team policies webpage.
