What courses can claim placement expenses?

The University currently offers placement expenses for the BA Primary Education programme. There are no expenses available for the postgraduate ITE programmes or for Early Years Education and Care.

Students on health courses (both undergraduate and postgraduate) may be able to claim support for placement expenses. This is provided by the NHS Business Service Authority (NHS_BSA), a full list of applicable courses can be found on their website.

Any expenses incurred on work experience or via placement year/year in industry are not claimable via the Placements Team, local arrangements with the particular course or organisation may be in place.

How much can be claimed through expenses?

The amount able to be claimed varies between education and health courses. To get the latest figures contact the team using the information below.

Regardless of course or method of claiming, students do not need to wait until the end of the placement to claim.

How are placement expenses claimed?

Placement expenses administered by the Placement Team are claimed using the online form. All students who can claim will be sent the link to form. If a link to the form is required, please contact the team to ensure the latest link is provided. Once received by the Placement Team expenses claims are processed weekly and all approved claims are sent to the Finance Team for payment, once with Finance it can take up to 5 working days for payments to appear in bank accounts.

For health courses all claims must be made through the NHS_BSA. The type of support for placement expenses is called Travel and Dual Accommodation Expenses (TDAE), more information on how to claim is available on their website. TDAE claims made through the NHS_BSA will come to the Placement Team for verification. The Placement Team aim to respond to all claims within 2 working days. If approved payment is made by the NHS_BSA and this can take up to 25 working days.
