We encourage students to fundraise for volunteering programmes to contribute/pay for programme fees.
It can be daunting to think about the amount of money you may need to fundraise for your overseas opportunity, but we and your organisation are here to support you every step of the way in achieving your goals!
Here’s how to get started
- Book an appointment through Handshake with the Global Opportunities team where we can discuss your support needs and realistic fundraising plans.
- Contact the organisation that you're fundraising for; most organisations have fundraising advisors who can help you with planning and ideas.
What can I do?
- Make the most of your university community!
- Contact your Students' Union who can help you to organise pub quizzes and events.
- Ask Societies to sponsor you.
- Organise bakes sales and activities to take place on campus.
Common fundraising ideas include
- Raffles
- Bake sales
- Crowdfunding
- 100 square bingo
I raised £1300 for my summer opportunity in 2022 through crowdfunding, a raffle, and 100 square bingo. My advice would be to get the word out and be proud of what you are doing, you will be surprised at how many people are excited to support you!
