What is the difference between enrolment and registration?
Enrolment and registration are different processes. You need to complete both to be fully enrolled and ready to start your studies at York St John. A step-by-step guide to the process is available on the enrolment web pages.
The first stage of the process (enrolment) takes place online.
The registration process will depend on whether you are a home or an international student.
Online enrolment
You must complete your online enrolment first. This is through e:Vision. You will have been sent an email with instructions on how to do this. The email will be sent from enrolment@yorksj.ac.uk.
If you are an international student, you should complete the online enrolment before you arrive in the UK.
You may wish to refer to the Enrolment Glossary to assist you while completing the online enrolment task.
Registration
Registration is how we know you are ready to start your course. The registration part of the process differs, depending on whether you are a home student or an international student.
I am a home student. How do I complete registration?
You will be asked to complete your registration online via e:Vision. Online registration will open a few days before the start date of your programme. You will be sent an email informing you when this is available to you.
You must complete the online registration stage to become fully enrolled at the University. It is vital that you register as soon as possible because this creates the formal contract between you and the University.
To register, you will need to log into your student account in e:Vision. You will be asked to confirm your personal details and course of study.
I am an international student. How do I complete registration?
As an international student, you need to complete your registration in person when you arrive in the UK. You will register at either the York or London campus, depending on where you are studying.
You must arrive on campus immediately after your arrival in the UK (and well before the latest enrolment date) to complete your right-to-study checks with the Visa and Compliance team.
If you are a York student, you will need to book an appointment to complete your in person registration.
It is essential that you book an appointment. You will not be able to complete your in person registration without an appointment.
International Registration Booking Page
Before your appointment, please make sure you have completed your online enrolment task and uploaded your photo for your ID card.
At your appointment you will meet with University colleagues including our Visa and Compliance team who will carry out a check of your visa documentation. Once these right to study checks have been completed you will be directed to a registration desk where you can collect your student ID card. Please read the information on our International Student Registration webpage which details further helpful information.
