When researching and writing your assignments, you need to be aware of the ethical issues surrounding the use of information, and how to avoid unintentional plagiarism (where you use other people's work and present it as your own).
Our dedicated module on Moodle, Academic Integrity, will help you to learn how to avoid plagiarism. Anyone can access the Academic Integrity module, and some courses have made it mandatory for you to complete it.
The Academic Integrity module also includes a section called Next steps: Turnitin- This contains several -Check your work using Turnitin submission boxes where you can get a similarity report. You can use these to:
- get a similarity report before you submit your assessment to your lecturer
- read advice on what the similarity report means, and
- what you might need to do to your assignment as a result.
These similarity checking points do not submit your work to your lecturer for marking - you must use the submission point in your module Moodle page to submit your work for assessment.
