Changing your official name requires some form of legal evidence.
The type of evidence we will accept includes:
- marriage certificates
- civil partnership certificates
- gender recognition certificates (GRCs)
- enrolled deed poll
- change of name deed
- unenrolled deed poll
- adoption order or certificate
- act of Parliament
- statutory declarations
- affidavits
- birth certificate (when re-registering)
- Scottish birth certificates
If you do not have the required evidence to submit a change of name request, you can still request to change your known as name.
If you wish to change your known as name please refer to the knowledge article 'Changing your known as name'
Please note that your known as name will not appear on your final award certificate or transcript.
