We are sure you are aware of the rise in living costs, and this is why it is more important than ever to be in control of your money.
We've introduced a range of measures to ease financial pressures on students and increase support over the next academic year.
Our Funding Advice team also provide guidance on how to manage your budget and you can get in touch with them by either submitting a case through the Student Hub online portal or booking a slot at a Funding Advice drop in.
On our website, you'll find further resources and tips to help you manage your budget.
Support from York St John University
York St John Student Support Fund
The York St John Student Support Fund provides financial support to students experiencing unexpected financial difficulties.
The University has increased investment in this Fund and has amended the application assessment to ensure more students can receive financial support from the University.
York St John Student Support Fund
Catering subsidy
The University has increased the provision of low-cost catering on campus to reduce student living expenses.
Sports and society membership subsidy
Our Students' Union and Sport Union support over 60 different sports clubs and societies. To make sure that finances are not a barrier to participation in sport or extracurricular activities, the University has introduced subsidies for both initial membership and membership renewal for all clubs and societies. Our students tell us that joining clubs and societies is really important in helping them to settle into York St John and we are keen to support this.
Professional memberships, fees and DBS checks
Many students need to pay fees for professional memberships and costs associated with voluntary work placements, such as Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks.
Over the next academic year, the University will provide a budget to cover the cost of these fees.
Information on how to apply will be shared by relevant tutors or course leaders.
Period Dignity
The University is supplying ethical sanitary products in toilets around campus for students to take for free when needed.
Removal of resit fees
Last year, the University removed the fee for exam resits.
