Student Loans Company Student Support Number (SSN)

York St John University require your Student Support Number to be able to access, update and maintain your Student Loans Company funding record. Without your SSN, we cannot release your funding.

What is a Student Support Number (SSN)?

Your Student Support Number (SSN) is a unique number issued to you by the Student Loans Company (SLC). The first time that you make an application to the SLC, you will be assigned a SSN which, in most cases, will remain with you for life. Your SSN is different to your Customer Reference Number and has the following format: SFDU12345678A.

Where do I find my SSN?

Your SSN can be found within your payment schedule from Student Finance England (or your relevant awarding body), below a barcode. You can also find your SSN in your online account.

I cannot find my SSN. Can you use my Customer Reference Number instead?

Unfortunately not. In order for us to access your SLC record, we need your SSN. If you are unable to find this, you will need to contact Student Finance England, or your relevant awarding body, to obtain it.

When should I provide my SSN to the University?

If you applied for funding in time for the Student Finance application deadlines and your application has been fully approved with York St John University as the institution, we should already have your SSN. If your application is not yet approved, or you have recently made changes to your application, please submit a case through the Student Hub online portal.
