6Funding and financial support for UK students
If you are a 'home' student, meaning you are living in or have settled status in the UK, you can take out loans.
There are 2 loans you can apply for:
- Tuition Fee Loan: covers the full cost of your fees for the duration of your course and is paid direct to the University.
- Maintenance Loan: contributes towards accommodation the cost of living while you are studying.
All 'home' students are eligible to apply for a Maintenance Loan. The amount of Maintenance Loan you get is based on your household income and where you will be living while you study.
The deadline for applying for loans is normally in May for new students and June for returning students. It is possible to apply after the deadline, but we recommended you apply before. This is to make sure your application is processed in time for you to start your studies.
