Viewing your exam adjustments

If reasonable adjustments have been approved, you will be able to view these on your personalised timetable on e:Vision. You will also receive an email from Registry confirming the arrangements at least 2 weeks before each examination period.

It is the responsibility of each individual student to check their timetable. In cases of difficulty, please raise a case through the Student Hub online portal.

Use of a computer in exams (including use of specialist software)

When use of a computer is discussed for an exam in your LAP appointment, it will be decided whether you will be using your own laptop, or a campus PC.

When completing an exam on any PC, you need to be able to:
-    Log onto the computer independently
-    Input your Student ID into a Header on a Word Document
-    Navigate to where your specialist software is, and set it up for use

It is good practice to access a campus PC and familiarise yourself with how to do the above steps before the exam.  This can reduce any additional stress on the day and can prevent delays.

If you are unsure of how to do any of the above, please contact Digital Training via the Student Hub.  You can also contact Assistive Technology if your concern specifically relates to your specialist software.

Extra time in exams

If you have been recommended extra time in exams, this will be visible on your personalised timetable on E:Vision.   The extra time is added to the end of your exam, so your exam will start at the same time as other students.  You can use this time for reading and processing the questions, planning your answers, writing, or proofreading your work.

Rest breaks in exams

If you have been recommended the use of rest breaks in exams, you will be permitted supervised rest breaks of up to 10 minutes per hour of exam.
Rest breaks provide a break from the exam whilst remaining under exam conditions.  You can not write or review the exam paper during this time.  You can use this break to access bathroom facilities, to move and stretch or leave the room (but remain supervised).

You are not obligated to use the full allotted time, and can return to the exam sooner if needed.  You may also not wish to use this at all during the exam.

Cue cards in exams

If you have been recommended the use of cue cards in exams, they must be in the following format, unless otherwise agreed.
-    1 x A4 page
-    Font Arial
-    Font size 11
-    Line spacing 1.5
-    Maximum of 4 bullet points per main heading
-    You must print this out and bring it to the exam with you

Noise-cancelling headphones

You may be approved to use noise-cancelling headphones in the form of non-Bluetooth earpieces or ear defenders.  You must bring these to the exam yourself.
